The Red Panda

I love red pandas. Everything about them. They are so fat and so adorable it is amazing! :) When I went to the zoo over the summer my boyfriend and I were freaking out over them and hung out at the red panda area for a good 15 minutes just looking at them.

Luckily for me mozilla firefox has a live cam of 3 adopted red pandas from the Knoxville Zoo. Even though this only makes my stalking habits worse, I will make an exception.

Red Panda at the Toronto Zoo :3

Red pandas are small arboreal mammals that are native to the eastern Himalyas and southwestern China They kind of resemble a mix between a raccoon, panda, fox and cat. They have reddish-brown fur and long furry tails and waddle around (which is another reason why tare so wonderful).

They mainly eat bamboo, but red pandas are omnivorous and can also eat small rodents, birds, eggs and insects. Sometimes they also eat fruit, roots and acorns.

At the Toronto Zoo they are fed banana, apple, hard boiled egg yolk, cottage cheese, pablum honey, bamboo and vitamin and mineral supplement to ensure that they grow strong.

Red pandas are nocturnal and usually spend the day sleeping and relaxing and trees and become active from dusk to dawn.

They are currently an endangered species mainly because of pollution and deforestation, which destroys the red panda's nesting sites and their main source of food (bamboo).

You can help red pandas by visiting zoo websites and adopting red pandas! There are lots of website and zoos that promote the adoption of zoo animals. There are also many other species that can be adopted and that need your help! So maybe for Christmas this year give the gift of love to an animal that needs it :)

November 11/12th

Happy belated pocky day to everyone haha. I was lucky enough to get a box of pocky from someone special!

More importantly, I came home from the weekend (I was in London) with goodies.

The first thing that I received was this awesome LEGENDARY guitar pick punch! It is called the "Pick Punch" and essentially you stick a card (like a credit card or gift card) at the bottom and push on the handle and it makes a custom made guitar pick!

I fell in love with it when I got it. I saw pictures of it online but I had no idea that it actually existed. When I got it as a gift I was so amazed. Pushing down on the pick punch is so satisfying and I loved using it to the point where I pulled out my drivers license and was totally ready to make a guitar pick of my drivers license. I also thought it would be awesome to make a pick out of my health card picture because my health card picture SUCKS and I hate looking at it hahaha. Luckily someone stopped me from making guitar picks out of cards that I kind of need to live my life.

I ended up making a Holt Renfrew one and another one from an old Starbucks gift card!

Another thing I got was this extraordinary hippopotamus pencil cup! It actually stands up but I like to put it on its stomach and look at it haha. My room is undergoing transformation and there is a bunch of crap on my desk so I haven't started using it as a pencil cup yet, so for now it is my desk friend haha. Forever alone.

Lastly, I got this tea infuser called the "Tea Rex" LOL. It is so freaking cute I am in LOVE with it. Basically you open the head and stick your tea leaves and loose tea inside of it and then close the head and put it in your mug of hot water. There are little holes in the head for the tea to brew and then you hang the chain outside of the mug.

I had seen a picture of it on tumblr and was absolutely DELIGHTED to find it in my bag of goodies :)

Only problem is my hippo and my tea rex do not seem to be getting along...

gDiapers

I never thought I'd write a post about diapers, but I had to share this with someone.

gDiapers is a diaper company created in the US- a couple who was about to have a baby learned that a regular diaper can take up to 500 years to biodegrade and that conventional diapers are the third largest contributors to landfills and yet only five percent of the world uses them. They figured regular diapers weren't the way to go and cloth diapers used up way too much water, so they created a solution.

gPants
gDiaper is this adorable diaper that is made of cloth and has a design that looks like a regular diaper. The difference is that there are liners that kind of resemble pads that you insert into the diaper. The pads are 100% biodegradable and you can even put them in your compost bins. The diapers (called gPants) come in various colours.

Each pair of gPants costs about 20$ while a box of liners costs about 17$. Considering the number of diapers that families go through a week I feel like this is a fantastic and adorable alternative that while is a bit pricy, is very ecofriendly.

every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

I felt the need to start over. 100%.

I feel like a brand new chapter of my life is going to start with this upcoming New Year.
I switched to tumblr for a while, but I really missed just plain old blogging so I'm going to restart cupofreeny on blogger.

I felt a pang of jealousy looking at other people's blogs and seeing how they all had a sense of direction; my blog is just random stuff. It'll usually be about some clothes I bought, or a new recipe I found with pictures and videos of me trying to make it.

The fact that I'm turning 20 in about a month really sank in this past week. I have a few goals I want to accomplish during 2012/while I'm 20. Although I do not believe AT ALL that the world is going to end in december of 2012, even if it does I want to be able to say that I genuinely lived that year to the fullest and did my best.

So let's start over.

Life

Principle of least interest: the person who has less commitment towards the relationship has more power because they are more likely to change in order to maintain harmony in the relationship.

Top if off:
The world's heaviest surviving baby was born in Italy in September 1955. The baby weighed an incredible 22 pounds and 8 ounces.
